Creating a double glazed porch to cut out draughts and make your home more secure

The front door before the Porch was installed

Our customer in Daventry bought this house in an exposed position on a new estate and were suprised at how many cold draughts were blowing into their hall through the front door, they tried a number of after-market products but no amount of stick on draught-proofing strips would keep out the coldest winds making the whole house freezing in winter. Also they were worried that the locks were not as secure as they could be.

The New Porch

They called Rugby Double Glazing to build a porch using the latest double glazed sealed units, toughened for safety, to keep out the cold. A pair of French doors allows access for larger pieces of furniture and enhances the look of the house, creating symmetry.

The base of the porch was built to traditional standards and raised so that the floor ran level with the internal height of the house reducing any trip hazard.

Yale multi-point locks were fitted to the French doors to deter the most ambitious unwanted visitor.
